WASHINGTON - It's the year 2009 and William Jefferson Clinton, the newest member of the Senate Fisheries subcommittee, is waiting, tray in hand, for the Senate cafeteria cashier to ring up his turkey burger, banana and Diet Coke.
The scenario may seem far-fetched (the Secret Service would probably be holding his tray), but Clinton would find himself in the Senate if some former aides have their druthers.
Two events would have to happen first: Hillary Rodham Clinton would have to be elected president and Gov. Eliot Spitzer would have to appoint the first husband as New York's junior senator.

I still would like someone to bring up all her denials about running for President during the Senate campaign and demand that she resign while doing so.
You're assuming that rock star Clinton would even bother to show up in the Senate chamber most of the time. Why should he? Frenchie John Kerry spends more time windsurfing than he does in the Senate, and that Dem senator in a coma in the hospital doesn't seem to be much missed either. Senator Bill could just keep on doing what he likes.
We could score a twofer if Clinton is defeated in her WH bid. She doesn't get to be prez, Bill doesn't get her Senate seat and America scores a major home run!!
....right you are....so why take that job?....he'd tell Spitzer to bring on an African American or Hispanic....Bill is alot of crappy things....but he is still politically adept....
Didn't they get enough of him when he was POTUS?
Trivia question: Who is the only President to serve in the Senate after leaving the White House?
Ironically, it's also the only other President to be impeached; Andrew Johnson. (Funny how the article mentioned J.Q. Adams and Taft, but not Johnson)
Because they were so bad last time?
why on earth would he ever want to be a Senator....
That was the question!
I think we should make a deal with the dims: We won't elect any more Bushes if they won't elect any more Clintons.
he doesn't, but he will do as he is told by madame prezident
I don't think the American people can handle Bush-Clinton-Clinton-Bush-Bush-Clinton. Seems like an oligarchy
The two turds that won't flush.
