Ron Paul, the Real Republican?

When you read about a vote in Congress that goes something like 412-1, odds are pretty good that the sole "nay" came from Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas. He so consistently votes against widely popular bills, in fact, that the Washington Post recently gave him the moniker "Congressman 'No.'"
Paul isn't a reflexive contrarian--he doesn't oppose just to oppose. Rather, he has a core set of principles that guide him. They happen to be the same principles envisioned by the framers of the U.S. Constitution: limited government, federalism, free trade and commerce -- with a premium on peace.
When most members of Congress see a bill for the first time, they immediately judge the bill on its merits, or if you're more cynical, they determine what the political interests that support them will think of it, or how it might benefit their constituents.
For Paul, the vast majority of bills don't get that far. He first asks, "Does the Constitution authorize Congress to pass this law?" Most of the time, the answer to that question is "no." And so Paul votes accordingly.
This hasn't won him many friends in Congress, or, for that matter, his own party. It hasn't won him influential committee assignments or powerful chairmanships, either. Those are generally handed out to the party animals who vote as they're told. An incorruptible man of principle in a corrupt body almost utterly devoid of principle, Paul is often a caucus of one.

So you SUPPORT spending hundreds of billions of dollars and thousands of American Lives to provide military and financial support to a Government dominated by convicted Islamic Terrorists who attacked our Embassies and murdered hundreds of United States Marines in cold blood.
I'm glad we cleared that up.

He's advocacy of cut-and-run in Lebanon (he's part of the cabal that pressured Reagan to retreat) is still causing the death of Christians there, as the Islamists take over.
(1) I have no idea what their stand on Kosovo was or is. I know exactly what Ron Paul's stand is.
(2) Hannity and Rush are just entertainers - Ron Paul is a Congressman. He actually has power to influence outcomes. I'm not sure what Hannity and Rush have ever actually done to be traitors - I know exactly what actions Ron Paul has actually undertaken to betray his country's armed forces.
I'm getting confused. Who are our enemies, the secular Ba'athists who hate both Iran and the Saudi Wahhabists, or the Islamic fundamentalist Shi'ite majority, who are Iranian allies? The Bush administration rode into this war with staunch Iranian ally Ahmed Chalabi, and after deposing the Saddam regime, handed power to the Shi'ites. It now seems that policy is coming back to bite them.
The solution would appear to be allowing Kurdistan to complete its secession process and installing a Sunni Ba'athist strongman in Baghdad to keep a lid on the Shia and be a counterweight to Iranian attempts to dominate the region. Unfortunately, the best candidate for the job was recently executed.
It is a complicated matter, and putting more boots on the ground to kick in doors and play roadside bomb-lottery is one-dimensional thinking.
I understand your position, but the elected Iraqi Government is now a Government dominated by convicted Islamic Terrorists who attacked our Embassies and murdered hundreds of United States Marines in cold blood.
"Democracies" who elect mass-murdering Terrorists to Majority Government Power are not worthy of our continued support.

Ron is a nutty politician. Most people in Teas would not support him for PRez.

You continually repeat this lie without documenting your claim.
Ron Paul turned his backs on our troops. I will therefore turn my back on him.
The politics are complex, and I would favor a much stronger approach from the start.
I do know, however, that the cut-and-run, let's publically show lack of resolve to the the terrorists, helps no one but the terrorists.
Such differences should be resolved behind closed doors.
I also make a point of highlighting some of the other issues (guns, taxes, marriage, life, etc.) that many seem to have forgotten about lately.

So becasue he didn't term limit himself he is now specifically "able to be corrupted?"

You claimed that convicted terrorists dominate the Iraqi government.
Again, name the names of these convicted terrorists, state their position in Iraq's government, and list the crimes of which they were convicted.
If you are going to make a claim that serious, give us some substance to go on.

They may not be marching down Penn Ave in the visible sense but the're marching all over the US without anyone doing anything about it. They have become a privileged component in our society.
