Hmmm. Lincoln mismanaged the Civil War, yet he is regarded by many to be the greatest president ever.

I wonder if history will be as kind to Bush?

Lincoln "mismanaged" Grant and Sherman right into the top generalship and kicked butt. I'll take that "mismanagement" any time.

Interestingly enough, Lincoln's problem was sticking with the wrong General for too long. After he shifted to Grant, things got bloodier, but the Union won. Maybe history is about to repeat itself, again?

Lincoln didn't mismanage the Civil War. He just couldn't find a Grant to run things until three years in. The clowns in charge of the Federal Army before that were incompetent fools.
