So where's the issue? Do YOU have a problem with pro-life and pro-gun??? I suspect THAT is the REAL issue. YOU are the social liberal.
J'Accuse!
Stop hyperventilating.
Guns and abortion are no reason to drive over the cliff
Hillary's far worse on both.
Plus, there's plenty of time left, maybe one of the back-benchers might have a good debate showing and get a little momentum going.
And since I'm interested in getting the most conservative Republican possible elected, I will be supporting the GOP nominee (except McCain--he's crazy).
What, you're not gonna support the GOP nominee (except McCain--he's crazy) unless it's the guy that you really, really, really want to win?
What kind of Republican are you?

Thanks for comparing me to a monkey.
"Guns and abortion are no reason to drive over the cliff"
A candidate's position on the Second Amendment and Roe versus Wade is a good barometer for judging that candidate's views on the Constitution.
"Hillary's far worse on both. "
There is nothing good about Hillery, but that doesn't mean I have to accept the premise that a candidate who believes in the Constitution can't get elected. If I felt that way, I'd be a liberal Democrat.
"And since I'm interested in getting the most conservative Republican possible elected, I will be supporting the GOP nominee (except McCain--he's crazy).
I'm interested in getting the most conservative candidate elected too. I agree that McCain is a loose cannon and unreliable. I also think Giuliani is as Republican as Joe Liberman or Mike Bloomberg, and Romney is an opportunistic egotist and basically a liberal. What I will do if the unspeakable happens and they run against Hillery, I'll have to wrestle with in the future.

I'm going to work as hard as I ever worked in a Republican Primary to get Hunter, Gingrich or Tancredo nominated, unless a more acceptable alternative materializes in the next year - Rice would be nice. I will do so because I believe an intelligent conservative who opposes illegal invaders, supports the Second Amendment, believes Roe versus Wade is neither moral nor good Constitutional Law, and recognizes the war against Islam isn't going to go away if we stick our heads in the sand CAN be elected. The old Bush II and Ronald Reagan proved that.
"What kind of Republican are you?"
I'm a conservative who happens to be a Republican because they are the best game around - generally. But as a conservative, I recognize that there ARE elements in the Republican Party who would prefer to present it as a watered down version of the Democrats. They are called RINOs and I don't think anyone on this forum really wants one of them nominated or elected.
And as I said before, the reason the Republicans lost in 2006 was due to major policy blunders by Bush, and his failure to stay in touch with the people who put him in office, relying instead on the advice of big machers like Rove and Mehlman that he could take them for granted, move to the left and gain more support from Hispanics and liberals by his policy shift.
Obviously they failed. A Giuliani, McCain or Romney candidature will also for similar reasons - regardless how you and I vote. They can't carry the Red States, especially in the South - ESPECIALLY when the Dems start campaigning and expose Giuliani's or Romney's past to the masses of independent conservatives there. They won't vote for Hillery, but as in 2006, they will simply stay home.
