Trying to read too much into any 2008 poll at this point, especially with respect to horserace numbers, is somewhat silly and a waste of time. But a recent FOX News poll does have some interesting tidbits in the internals asking about voters' general impressions on issues.
Are you more who are more or less likely to support a candidate who is pro-choice on the issue of abortion? Republicans only: More likely 22 percent (a lot more likely 12 percent, somewhat more likely 10 percent). Less likely 46 percent (a lot less likely 36 percent, somewhat less likely 10 percent). Not a major factor 30 percent. Are you more who are more or less likely to support a candidate who supports civil unions for gays and lesbians? Republicans only: More likely 8 percent (a lot more likely 5 percent, somewhat more likely 3 percent). Less likely 50 percent (a lot less likely 39 percent, somewhat less likely 11 percent). Not a major factor 38 percent. [snip]
The biggest red flag for Giuliani has to be that only 42 percent of Republicans surveyed correctly identified him as pro-choice. Twenty-one percent of Republican voters have it wrong and think Giuliani is pro-life, and another 36 percent of Republicans don't have a clue what his position on abortion. In other words, nearly six out of 10 registered Republican voters have yet to learn something about Giuliani which, we can infer from the first question on abortion, will make close to half of them either "somewhat" less likely or "a lot" less likely to vote for him. There's no doubt the same holds true of his position on civil unions for gays, and the Second Amendment as well.Running the Republican Numbers on Rudy

People have the right to support any candidate they choose.
My problem is with the spreading of untruths about the candidates they oppose.
The realistic truth is that if one doesn't vote for the GOP candidate in 2008,whomever that person may be, one will be complicit in putting Hillary and her HINO in the White House.
Now that is immoral!
"Robert H. Bork is Distinguished Senior Fellow "
Good stuff from Judge Bork.
I'll add my .002 cents (after taxes) worth.
Civil unions = gay marriage. The camel's nose and everything but the tail are in the tent with that.
I understand how you feel, Cindy.
For 2008, the GOP we have, is what we have. I feel the alternative, Hillary, Obama, Edwards or some other Leftist, is totally dangerous and unacceptable.
Politics is the art of the possible. One of them will be POTUS and in charge of our National Defense and Military. No candidate agrees with us 100%, but I agree with Rudy on many, many issues. In these times, I feel these are the issues that count.
Marriage is a sacramant, only if you are a christian.
I know lots of folks who were married before the justice of the peace, they are still man and wife, its still a marriage.
All it is is a different way to word it. same benefits etc.
They simply found another way to make it acceptable-its lib speak.
BTW, if you know gay folks, they still consider it a marriage, its just not called that legally. and they do get "married" in churches and call it a sacrament.
doesnt matter what the government wants to call it, or the left or whoever. its still the same thing with a different label.
Like buying kraft mac and cheese, but if you buy the "no name" its still mac and cheese.
i dont know whats so hard about that.
Mitt Romney's complete opinion on the question of homosexuals in the Boy Scouts includes the rights of local organizations to set policy.
Whereas Mitt Romney believes sexual orientation should not preclude joining the Boy Scouts, he supports the right of local Councils of the Boy Scouts of America to decide and enforce their policy regarding homosexuals in their organization and leadership.
Romney served on the Boy Scouts of Americas National Executive Board from 1993 to 2002.
As an Eagle Scout myself, I don't think the Boy Scouts should allow gay Scoutmasters, and I appreciate Romney's stand that it's the right of local Councils to decide and enforce the policy and government should not interfere.
Tell us: how did St. Rudy slay the al Qaeda dragon? When did he do this marvelous feat? Related question: where is your evidence that only Rudy can and will fight the War on Terror?
You call me a Giuliani groupy? No, but you're a Mitt-dope.
My above comment stands. Ping me when you want to have a normal conversion.
If youre a Catholic its a sacrament:-)
where?
The federal govt has already taken a position on this. It doesn't recognize gay marriage. For example, the man recognized by the state of Massachusetts as the spouse of Gerry Studds was denied the right to collect the survivor benefits that his Congressional pension would have provided had he been married to a woman.
"As an Eagle Scout myself"
Great Job!
My son is on his way to star:-)
Cant get his license til he makes Eagle (should save me a few years before I go grey)!
I think your chart comparing Rudy!'s positons with the dem-o-rats and Republican party platforms is the best in-a-nutshell facts in one place. Keeps it short and simple.
Spiff, why don't you put all your spam someplace you can just link to it?
I get tired scrolling past miles of your spam, at least some of which usually appears on any Rudy positive thread.
Oh, good. Someone else was calling Rudy-supporters "Rudophiles" (which comes closer to the word I mentioned), and I asked him three times whether he intended to associate Rudy-supporters with pedophiles, but I got no answer.
I can't imagine a true conservative who would be pro-choice, so in the scenario you give, I'd vote third party, or something other than a vote for either of the two you mention.
"...centered around a bunch of extreme fringe zealots....I welcome their exit from the party." Are we to take it that if one does not support Rudy, but instead supports Tancredo, Hunter, McCain or Joe-Blow, they are zealots and unfit for "party" membership? So much for primaries, elections, etc - "The Party" rules by fiat from the Wizard. Count me out, in that case.
Human lives ended on American soil by terrorists since 9/11/01: ~3,000
Human lives ended on American soil by abortionists since 9/11/01: ~6,500,000
We need to end both threats to human life and do it through legal means.
Oh, and nice strawman on the end there. (rolls eyes)
