Okay I'm putting on my tinfoil-hat... What if the Arabs try to get hold of the Ark!? If the Ark really is there, Israel should try everything to secure it. The Muslims also may want to place "Islamic Artefacts" there...
If they have found the Ark, and the Israelis knew about it, the tanks would be rolling as we speak.
