The elephant in the room that no one discusses is why our representatives continue to journey to and from Washington in the first place, as if this was still the 1700s.

Existing technology would easily allow them to stay in their home districts, teleconference with fellow members, and cast their votes.

They could all head to Washington for events such as the State of the Union, but there is absolutely no reason at all for them to be working four days, flying home, working four days, flying home ... etc.

Well, there is one reason: if they lived and worked out of their home districts, they might have to have regular daily contact with those danged constituents of theirs. And I don't think they want that. At all.

But you know, it is typical of these mental cases. Here's Murtha accusing the troops of living in palaces. A similar case would be for someone like Barbara Streisand to accuse middle class Americans of living lavishly. The gall of these people never ceases to amaze me.
