Is San Diego State still the Aztecs? I don't think there are any Aztecs left in Mexico, but I am sure somebody somewhere must be offended on their behalf.
The Aztecs were the Baathists of 16th-century Mexico--most of their neighbors hated them with a passion, which is why most of the forces fighting on the Spanish side were native Mexicans. The name "Aztec" isn't accurate--they were called the Mexica.
