Indeed. But now that they are released, it isn't possible to impose another ex post facto punishment on them. So punishing them while they're out of prison may be the only possible way.

That's ridiculous and I favor changing those laws. On the other hand, the REAL sex offenders should have that tattooed on their forehead and put in the middle of the general prison population. No protective custody.

While I do not condone 18-21 year old guys having 15-17 year old girlfriends, I know that it is not the same thing as an adult raping a pre-teen. There should be radically different treatment of these two crimes.
