RALEIGH NC - - One of the chief campaign bloggers for Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards quit Monday after conservative critics raised questions about her history of provocative online messages. Amanda Marcotte posted on her personal blog, Pandagon, that the criticism "was creating a situation where I felt that every time I coughed, I was risking the Edwards campaign." Marcotte said she resigned from her position Monday, and that her resignation was accepted by the campaign.
Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, demanded last week that Edwards fire Marcotte and a second blogger, Melissa McEwan, for remarks he deemed anti-Catholic. Edwards, a former North Carolina senator, called the messages personally offensive, but decided to keep Marcotte and McEwan on staff.
"No matter what you think about the campaign, I signed on to be a supporter and a tireless employee for them, and if I can't do the job I was hired to do because Bill Donohue doesn't have anything better to do with his time than harass me, then I won't do it," Marcotte wrote Monday night.
We did have some fun with her though.
Check out Iowahawk's satire of her recently.

Re: Request and etc.
Dear Senator Edwards:
Sorry you had to miss the focus group. I received you request about deleting my old Pandagon posts, but I have to say I'm totally f__king perplexed by it. For instance the one where I said
"I had to listen to how the poor, dear lacrosse players at Duke are being persecuted just because they held someone down and f__ked her against her will--not rape, of course, because the charges have been thrown out. Can't a few white boys sexually assault a black woman anymore without people getting all wound up about it? So unfair."
Do you really think that somebody would really think I had sympathy for those Duke rapists? F__king HELLO, it was f__king sarcasm. Quality sarcasm, I might add. The only people too stupid to see the sarcasm are idiot Catholics and magic underpants Mormon baby machines, and they're probably so stupid that they agree with it unironically. For f__k sake, who could possible be offended?
Good. What about the other one?
"Targeted" LOL
What if Mary had taken Plan B after the Lord filled her with his hot, white, sticky Holy Spirit, to which she replied, Youd have to justify your misogyny with another ancient mythology.
Hasn't got a very large vocabulary, has she?
That's good. LOL
She gets quoted on VoxDay's site a lot (in order to laugh at her arguments). I'm not a blue nose by any means and it won't make a difference how I vote one way or another, but this woman is vile. Beyond the pale.
coughed???????????? I guess she's using the slick willie dictionary of special meanings.
Yes, she is very vile. I read the links from Malkin's website.
As I wrote below you, she is vile. I could even countenance what you quoted. But a lot of her stuff is much worse.
No, but the vulgar blasphemy may not have been helpful.
"Oh, Mandy...."
Iowahawk just flayed Amanda Marcotte alive. A lot of foul language, but that was some of the most savagely funny satire I've ever read.
So's my Weimaraner, but I wouldn't want to hear her political opinions either.
I hope everyone has read this brilliant piece.
My Fair Blogger. LOTS of vulgar language but hillarious!

People like Amanda Marcotte never lose their jobs. They just get their job titles changed and get assigned to duties outside the public eye. I'll bet you anything she's still working for the Edwards campaign as a consultant, incorporated under an anonymous, innocuous name. I wouldn't be surprised if Edwards himself didn't help set it up for her.
