Scientists skeptical of climate-change theories say they are increasingly coming under attack -- treatment that may make other analysts less likely to present contrarian views about global warming. "In general, if you do not agree with the consensus that we are headed toward disaster, you are treated like a pariah," said William O'Keefe, chief executive officer of the Marshall Institute, which assesses scientific issues that shape public policy. "It's ironic that a field based on challenging unproven theories attacks skeptics in a very unhealthy way." Two climatologists in Democrat-leaning states, David Legates in Delaware and George Taylor in Oregon, have come under fire for expressing skepticism about the origins of climate change. Oregon Gov. Theodore R. Kulongoski is publicly seeking to strip Mr. Taylor, widely known as the state's climatologist, of his position because of his stance.

The Democrats are such promoters of free speech and scientific method.
Its called a SOLAR MAXIMUM.....the left is trying to bring down our economy for their Marxist purposes.....
Aren't they? So nice to know they're as open-minded as they claim to be. /sarc
Looks like we have our new buzzword. Oh, well...I suppose it's easier to spell than paradigm.
Not a good sign when all one needs to prove one's point is shade.
Point carbon is our friend...
Was I dreaming or did I really see Al Gore and Richard Branson doing a global warming commercial the other day where they announced a "greenhouse gases" contest with a $20,000,000 prize for the winning entry plan to decrease greenhouse gases? - I thought "well, I think I'll enter it just for fun", but then the more I thought about it the more I realized that it was probably just mostly for scientists (which I'm not) and the twenty million dollar prize will most likely end up being a gigantic paycheck to the most prestigious scientist who will endorse and lend more credibility to Al Gore's vision of greenhouse gases and global warming. (When I first heard Branson talk when he first started appearing with Mr. Gore, I thought he sounded like he might not really be so sure but that he thought it wouldn't hurt anything just to be on the safe side and practice sound conservation of the environment. . and I've thought the same thing myself if simple things could be done that don't require a "cure-all" socialist agenda and a wrecked economy.)
British Lord Stings Senators Rockefeller and Snowe: 'Uphold Free Speech or Resign'
With global cooling/warming/climate change .... I'm reminded of the juvenile 'joke' of counting your fingers backwards ... 10, 9, 8, 7, 6 ... and 5 makes 11.
Defend freedom of speech. Freedom is under attack.
Gimmee my twenny mil.
To join this "Contest" would also be supporting their insanity.
I fear you're right. This weekend, I read Dinesh D'Souza's book "The Enemy Within" and while I'm not sure I agree with everything in the book, his central theme that the "left" is the enemy, in my view, is dead on.
Climate change is natural, yet the lefties will coop it and suggest policies that then give them greater control over our lives. The questions are, are we going to let them and what are our options?
Kinda reminiscent of the Red Guards in China back in the sixties, going around beating up college professors who actually had the audacity to---get this----THINK!
Stay tuned.
