Newt was blackmailed by the Clintons while he was Speaker of the House. It led to his being totally ineffectual in the end and caused him to resign.
That is not a record I would feel comfortable with in a Presidential nominee.

Newt was a good man then and a good man now! He advanced the cause of conservatism as much as anyone in the last 20 yrs.

But with Gingrich's knowledge of the way the government works, he would be a great spear catcher for Duncan Hunter. Gingrich can beat any opposition into submission as the V.P. while Hunter directs policy.
