>>A short list for taxpayer funded 757 recipients:
Nancy Pelosi, Ted Stevens, Condi Rice, Henry Paulson, Robert Gates, Alberto Gonzales, Dirk Kempthorne, Mike Johanns, Carlos Gutierrez, Elaine Chao, Mike Leavitt, Alphonso Jackson, Mary Peters, Samuel Bodman, Margaret Spellings, Jim Nicholson, and Michael Chertoff.
Did I miss anyone?<<
All those people are already given 757s?!

No, heavens no. That is a list of all of the people in the line of succession to the Presidency.

(For liberals there is no end to their rights and no beginning to their responsibilities.)

As much as I despise Pelosi, she is the Speaker of the House. She is privy to all things goobermint. A small jet like the G III or a Citation seems justified to me. I see it as a tool rather than a badge of office. There are things that should not be discussed in the cabin of a commercial plane. That isn't just national security issues, either. Allowing contract information to leak could result in billions of dollars lost just because the other side has a view into the government's negotiating strategy.
Call me naive, I'm honestly surprised that the Speaker only got a private jet after September 11th. Executives use them everyday. They do it because it confers an advantage. I think she should have the G-III.
The rest of them can walk, as far as I'm concerned. If they really want to fly, we can strap Ted Kennedy to a Krusty the Klown balloon and kick him him until he floats out of D.C.

why not charge rates comparable to international first class The actual amount is secondary to the principle of it all.
