Give a rock a little authority and they think they are a mountain.

I guess it is time for Key Largo to chime in. I want to post accurate information. I was at the campus that day picking up my friend's child from school. My own children attended Key Largo School in the past. I was approached by the individuals being discussed. They were indeed on school grounds - not a public sidewalk. If you are patient enough to read this, you will all realize how severely blown out of proportion this is. Since most of you do not seem to be from anywhere near the Florida Keys, I feel there is a very important fact you need to know. This is a very long and narrow island chain over 2 hours long with only one road in and one road out. This one road (US 1) is extremely high traveld (that is almost an understatement)It is four lanes wide and is bumper to bumper 24/7. The School sits right on the highway. The traffic issues are very dangerous. Imagine a school of over 1000 students at dismissal time. Imagine the hundreds of parents who pull into a semi-circle in front of the school to pick up their kids, trying to get back out onto a highway that is literally the only way out. I went into the office to complain of men on campus passing out bibles and greatly endangering students because of the disruption of the traffic flow. I did not care what they were passing out, only that they were making things really difficult out there. When I got into the office I heard a woman complaining about the "bible heads" outside (not very nice but I am just trying to put the truth out there.) The lady at the front desk said she would inform administration right away.I then turned around and left. I was in time to see Mrs. Martinson explain to the men where the school property line ended and public property began. They moved at her request. She walked away. The men returned back to where they had been standing on the school campus and once again disturbed the flow of traffic. It was a mess. I spoke to a teacher friend later who gave me some humerous information. The principal thought the original complainer said "bobble heads" and that venders were outside trying to sell them. Even when she approached them and walked away she had still not even noticed bibles. The Principal was again informed that the gentleman were back on campus. At this time she apparently asked the sherrif's dept. for assistance with keeping the men off of the school property. There is sherrif presence outside of the school zone every day because of the danger. The men were arrested for not compying with the request to stay off of school property. Only later did school officials even know what was being distributed. In my opinion, as I have known Mrs. Martinson for years, you are all giving her a raw deal. She is a fair and highly respected educator. I am 110% positive she was concerned for the safety of the students and for the dangers posed with so many motor vehicles - especially after I heard the "bobble head" story! This website requests no personal attacks but WOW, that's mostly what I see. Some of you will give your religion a bad rap as you sound like extremists ready to hang the first person who does not meet your requirements. For people who love their bible/religion, you sure can be mean to someone you do not even know surrounding a situation you were not even present for. I respect your right to pass out bibles but it must be on public property because, face it, not everyone has the same beliefs - that's what makes this country beautiful. The funny part is still - she did not even know! Even if she had, I still think she did the right thing. She was trying to keep our most precious cargo safe. Please do not forget, although I am sure it was not the case with these two gentleman, adult predators come in all shapes and sizes and carry all types of enticements. There are those crazy enough out there to try it with bibles. I am happy Mrs. Martinson was protecting her students and being a traffic cop. There has to be safer places to pass out your bibles. Respectfully, WPHoar
