I can't have a dish (regardless of the brand); neither can a lot of people.
The only way you can't have a dish is if you have line of site issues. No home association, deed restriction, landlord, etc, can prevent you from having a dish, it's Federal Law.

You tell the people in Manhattan that. I've lived her for years and have only seen a handful of dishes on apartment buildings.

No home association, deed restriction, landlord, etc, can prevent you from having a dish, it's Federal Law. My understanding of the law is that it only applies to renters to the extent that they have exclusive control over an area--like a balcony or a patio. Also, a landlord can forbid you from damaging the property, which means no bolting the dish to the side of the building.
