Thanks! I did run across some other articles that clarified the Clark thing in my mind. I didn't realize his wife was an astronaut when I read that first article and your comments.

I'm guessing that if Shipman wrote in her own handwriting that Bill O was her "boyfriend" then it's probably true. I am wondering how long ago he and Nowak had a relationship, and how long it lasted, and when it broke up. The two of them look a bit cozy in those pics.

I wonder too about the nature of the "stalking" that Shipman claimed occurred over the last two months. How did Nowak get copies of emails between Shipman and O?

I also need clarification on who lives where. Nowak lives in Houson, Shipman in Florida, and O in Houston?

I would say that if the dish-throwing was loud enough for a neighbor to hear and call the cops, then it was likely a big fight.

I don't really think Nowak has a mental illness, or had an "episode." She and her husband just separated, and her former squeeze was dating someone new. She lost two men, two lovers, in a matter of weeks or months. Just one loss like that can be devastating. Then add to that the stress of her career, the letdown after her mission, and any flying hormones, and walla!

Nowak probably had Shipman's password.

Nowak probably had Shipman's Oefelein's password.

Yes, maybe he gave her his password, although you would think he would change it then after the affair ended. Or maybe she figured it out, you know how people often use birthdays or pet names or kids' names for passwords.

How else could she have been "stalking" Shipman? I thought she lived in Florida? Maybe she followed her around in her car when Shipman visited Houston?

Remember that Oefelein was in orbit from Dec. 9th to Dec. 22nd, 2006, and Nowak may had reasonable justifications to access his files on the ground.

Perhaps Oefelein knew that Nowak was doing things (like getting copies of his emails with Shipman) and just said to Shipman something about that, without saying who was doing it. Just a "former squeeze" or something.

Shipman said in her TRO that she thought Nowak was using government resources to get info on her.

" she says Nowak has been stalking her for two months."

She said she had felt she was being stalked for a couple of months, but had no idea who it could have been. She only put Nowak's name to the stalker AFTER the airport attack.

Nowak and Oefelein both live in the Clear Lake area, south of Houston, around NASA. Oefelein has an apartment since his divorce, so I'm not certain where that is. His ex-wife lives in Friendswood, also a 'burb down in that area.

Here's what our latest local news story (on TV just now) said about the mother-in-law quote:

~~~~
http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?section=local&id=5014100
" ... Oefelein's father, Randy Oefelein, declined comment to a reporter at his Anchorage, Alaska, home on Wednesday night.
Charlene Davis, the mother of Oefelein's ex-wife, Michaella, said Wednesday that Nowak -- although friends with Oefelein for years -- had nothing to do with his marriage breakup.
"I think there were a lot of bad choices being made, and Lisa just made a horrible one," Davis said in a telephone interview. "And I just feel sorry for her. What the hell was she thinking?" ..."
Oh, I forgot to answer the rest of the "geography" question.
Shipman lives in the town of Cape Canaveral, FL, itself - out on the peninsula. Her condo is in a newer development whose streets aren't on the maps I've been using, lol, so I haven't gotten an exact distance measurement from the Orlando airport or the La Quinta where Nowak stayed.
Whichever it is, it's a 45 minute journey across that sparsely populated highway from Orlando on to the Cape. The development is called Shores of Artesia, street is Abaco Court.
Thanks! I wonder why she confronted Shipman in FL, instead of in Houston? Maybe she thought she'd be more likely to get away with it farther from her own home?
Are there many alligators near Houston?
I read FOX news online about a half hour ago. I read the story you posted, and this was there, too. Not that I should be surprised, but the media sure do report two completely different versions of something, don't they?
"Shuttle pilot Bill Oefelein's ex-wife's mom claimed yesterday that Lisa Nowak's gravitations toward the flyboy caused his marriage to crash and burn in 2005."
They backtracked on their initial statement, no doubt to protect his career as the father of their grandchildren...
Whether it's Newton-seconds or in-pounds/second; no matter what unit happens to be in vogue ... It was NASA's responsibility to control this satellite. We (the taxpayer) paid untold hundreds of millions to get the satellite built, launched and monitored; and NASA blew it. Like they Blew Hubble, like they blew Challenger and like they blew Columbus.
NASA doesn't pay well (not well at all), so they do not attract or keep the best talent. I more than doubled my salary when I left Johnson in the late 80's. What I left behind was not something that built confidence.
Let's compare the relative success and cost effectiveness of the private sector as they pursue space exploration. Spaceship One is a prime example. It gently fell back to earth without the need for a heavy heatshield.
Every chance NASA has had to blow it; they have taken ample opportunity and made the best of it.
Sorry, got distracted onto our other big Houston story tonight. Bet Nowak is glad there's someone else grabbing the tabloids' attention at the moment.
Yes, I'm guessing Shipman was possibly at JSC during her time in Houston, if it was a business appointment, which I gathered it was, from the fact that NASA allegedly made her plane reservations and had her itinerary on the computer, where Nowak allegedly found them.
No chances for a confrontation then.
Yes, we have a number of alligator-infested areas, but not as many close to JSC as more to the west.
