I was wondering if any of the Rudy supporters could answer how Rudy is different that a Democrat like Joe Lieberman? Both are socially liberal, in favor of gun control & affirmative action, and both are strong on defense and crime. What's the difference besides the party designation?

I made this same observation yesterday. When you get right down to the pure politics of it, Dick Gephardt is actually to the right of Rudy.

Bingo. I would venture to guess that the bulk of the Blue Dogs are to the right of Rudy as well on many issues.

Rudy's not for affirmative action. In fact, Rudy ended the NYC racial quota system for city contractors when he was mayor. Rudy's also a big tax cutter. And he shrunk welfare rolls and the city payroll. I don't think Joe is quite as market friendly as that, though he may be.
