According to Radio Farda, Iranian reports of Hassanpour’s death emerged on Jan. 21 after a delay of six days, giving the cause as “gas poisoning”.

Apparently, uranium hexaflouride reacts with even tiny amounts of atmospheric water to produce a really nasty substance called hydroflouric acid. Unlike Gerald Bull who took a few slugs to the back of the head never knowing what happened, this guys departure was most painful.

Uranium, IIRC, is not a real good thing to ingest, either.
