a self inflicted mortal wound? tell us which conservatives can win the general election?

I must have posted the same comment 50 times on these threads, no one ever answers - I'll try once more:

we barely won the 2000 and 2004 election. In 2000, we had a well known candidate with an established name, good on the social issues, a religious man, a well funded campaign. We lost the popular vote and won a one state electoral win with a 537 vote margin. In 2004, as the incumbent - he won a one state electoral win where a 65K vote swing would have given the presidency to a northeast liberal kook.

so tell me how the 2008 election is a "cakewalk", just tossing up a litmus test pure conservative is going to be an easy victory. I could go into some polling data that shows why 2008 has made the republican base's ability to secure a presidential win, even harder.

I keep asking why not and no one can give me a specific reason Tony cannot win
Especially if J Bush 0r perhaps S. King is his running mate - look at the logisitics
look at the whole country

"tell us which conservatives can win the general election?"

If Giuliani runs as a third party (Liberal Party for example, since he still hasn't declared as a Republican) and Nader runs again, the Democrat vote among liberals might be split beyond any hope of winning. That would leave an open door for a conservative GOP candidate.

All of the Giuliani supporters are assuming he will be the GOP nominee. Not unless he enters the GOP primaries as a Republican. So far, he hasn't.
