I'm going to make it there one of these days - fleeing Democrat-controlled Washington State for either Republican-ish Arizona or the Republic of Texas. ASAP.
I really want to see a cricket one-day match. That part of the world has more potential millionaire baseball players than they realize, particularly those well-beef-fed pitchers. Drop a bloke on a mound down there and he'll hit 97 mph within the span of an old vinyl LP record. And he won't need to keep his elbow stiff.
(Oops! Forgot Seattle isn't exactly in the "South" Pacific -- but it *is* in Paradise all the same)

You are *so* right -- we call them "bowlers" here, to differentiate the way they work with the ball: bowlers keep a straight arm, pitchers don't.
Imagine Daniel Vettori working for the Seattle Mariners. He's what we'd call a good "all-rounder" -- he's a wicked spin-bowler and can do very well as a batsman. He looks like a rather mature Harry Potter: and he can do Magick!
Come to NZ sometime during our summer and I'll try to find a good one-day match for us to watch.
