All of what you say, my FRiend, about Ollie is probably 100% true.

> They would tear him apart...

But he is, after all, a decorated wartime US Marine! A Vietnam Vet for pete's sakes. I doubt he is sufficiently frail to be easily "torn apart" by the leftist MSM. They aren't as tough as the VC, nor as deadly, nor as smart.

If they dared go after Ollie they would find out -- to their cost -- that America has a soft spot for their decorated heroes of the Armed Forces: Marines especially. The Marines are a US Institution nearly as old as Congress itself. The Bad Guys found *that* out during Iran-Contra.

And Ollie is pretty tough, even amongst Marines.

No matter how fat-and-important the politician, nothing -- absolutely nothing -- replaces a chest-full of medals earned in Service for his Country and worn on a Marine uniform by a guy with a back straight as a ram-rod and a voice that is both measured, articulate, and sincere.

Ollie won Iran-Contra on that basis alone. A lesser man would have failed.

But fair enough, maybe not the Lt-Col this time. What about drafting Gen Hal Moore? Would he go? He'd make a great President, surely?
