If Rudy is a conservative, then my dearly departed grandmother was a canostoga wagon.
LOL Wesley Clark and Hillary Clinton had every intention of running for President before they were 'drafted'.
So?
We could still try to recruit Tony.
That post was a response to post #684 - it was just a list of info to show that candidates are drafted
Even those who have no inclination to run
Mayoral politics is hardly what we need as a nation.
Rudi shares the problem of a rather large closet full of skeletons, perhaps not as episodic as Hillary's but just too many close brushes with shadowing figures that have gone bump in the night.
We need a Reaganite, not a cross dresser whose major political pattern has been to pander for votes from lobbies such as Gay Pride, and has failed to live with that as a "man of principle."
Giuliani might make a good Secretary of Home Security, but hardly a president.
Giuliani MAY be anything that will get him what he wants. He is not a Reaganite, and does not have the ability to unify our nation. Mayoral politics a president does not make.
Witness Rudy's ominous refusal to insert a party affiliation on his candidate filing. Rudy means to run as an independent , rather than throw his support behind better men than he is, Duncan Hunter, for example, or Newt Gingrich.
Move that into the presidential offices and you will have New York City mayoral tantrums and dirty back streets of New York politics which will leave our nation reeling.
My understanding is tha Duncan Hunter was a lieutenant who led LRRP patrols in Vietnam. Then he started HIS OWN successful law practise after law school, in an extremely competative environment. He has long term congressional experience and a solid conservative record. He is a leader. Duncan is loyal to the Republican party, Rudy is not ( witness the refusal to fill in party affiliation in his candidate filing.Duncan has what it takes to be president and commander in chief. Rudy does not.
I have no interest in doing so, but knock yourself out.
ok
If one has to spend nearly 50 paragraphs trying to convince me that he's conservative, I'm probably not going to buy it.
Bull.
Why do you ask?
Tom DeLays presence in the House was one of the pillars for the legislative agenda that the RINO senators did not want to see on the Senate floor. It was a no win situation for them. Secondly, Tom DeLAy would have been in line to run for the presidency, and would not have been assailable by faggots like Giuliani or McCain.
This makes me want to see Tom DeLays name on a nomination ballot in the worst way. He was a brilliant political fighter, and his skills are now sorely missed.
I would still vote for him as a presidential candidate, but now will settle for supporting Duncan Hunter.
"As a conservative Catholic, the Church teaches me that voting for a pro-abortion candidate such as Guiliani is a sin".
I, too am a conservative Catholic, who will have no problem voting for Rudy should he get the nod. To stand by and allow such avowed abortionists as Hillary or Obama walk into the people's White House, would be a greater sin. At least RUDY is against partial birth abortion and would select conservative judges etc.
No man is i=unasailable. But can Hunter take it and prevail? Hunter was a LRRP patrol leader in Vietnam with the 75 Ranger Regiment. I doubt any one who is running either on the Dem or Republican side can match his grit and wisdom.Hunter is the MAN!
But I am upset that he might resign his seat - and I am not alone on that
And, Tony Snow would be a great candidate who would not have to vacate an incumbent seat.
I would love it if he did become President
