Global warming on Mars! "It's all Bush's fault" Martians claim
According to a report released by NASA in 2005, the polar ice caps are melting--on Mars. The dramatic shrinking of Mars' poles has taken place over a period of six Earth years (that's about 3 Mars years), and is largely attributed to increased solar activity. Given that Mars is the fourth planet from the sun, Earth being the third, is it possible that Sol may have something to do with our planet's warming as well? It may come as a surprise to some of you, but yes!
A recent study by two Duke University physicists (with no known connection to the Lacrosse team) seems to back up NASA's findings--at least here on Earth, if not Mars. Drs. Nicola Scafetta and Druce West have completed a study witch indicates that the sun may be responsible for upwards to 30% of the Earth's increased temperature readings.
However, the whole study may be undercut by a study from the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, United Kingdom. Their study found that global temperatures actually dropped slightly, on Earth, not Mars, between the years 1998-2005.
So what are we to conclude from all of this? Is it possible that we are experiencing a cyclical period of warming--something that has occured periodically for the last 3.5 billion years or so? Yes.
Is it possible that the increased solar activity of the sun, our solar system's primary source of heat and light, may have a warming effect on both Earth's and Mars' climates? Ya think?
Or is it more likely that the whole issue is Bush's fault for refusing to sign the Kyoto Accords, and now he will be held responsible for the subsequent destruction of all life on Earth--and Mars? Yeah, that's gotta be it.
You know fuly well that they didn't miss it, they ignored it because it doesn't follow the man-made global warming story line.
They will pick it up when somebody claims it is the exhaust from the Mars Rover which has damaged the atmosphere causing the global warming on Mars. Then it does become Bush's fault.
Not so fast, logical ones.
I've already seen how they handle this:
"Mars has a natural CO2 overabundance, causing greenhouse warming, and provides a warning to Earth for what man is creating."
This is whack-a-mole. As Rush says, it's a religion...you can't argue with them on a factual basis.
I realize you are warning us of what the High Priests of Global Warming say. But it is actually not true that Mars has that much carbon dioxide. The atmosphere has a great deal of nitrogen. What it does not have much of is oxygen. Venus' atmosphere is about 98% carbon dioxide, but Mars is still less than 1% carbon dioxide, if I remember correctly.

Fox sent me an email and ask me what I thought.
I felt like being a smart-alec, so I told them:
"Check with the people on Mars, they seem to be experiencing the same difficulty."
LOL!!

Earth's Atmospheric composition (by volume, dry air): Major : 78.084% Nitrogen (N2), 20.946% Oxygen (O2), Minor (ppm): Argon (Ar) - 9340; Carbon Dioxide (CO2) - 350 Neon (Ne) - 18.18; Helium (He) - 5.24; CH4 - 1.7 Krypton (Kr) - 1.14; Hydrogen (H2) - 0.55 Water is highly variable, typically makes up about 1% |
Martian Atmospheric composition (by volume): Major : Carbon Dioxide (CO2) - 95.32% ; Nitrogen (N2) - 2.7% Argon (Ar) - 1.6%; Oxygen (O2) - 0.13%; Carbon Monoxide (CO) - 0.08% Minor (ppm): Water (H2O) - 210; Nitrogen Oxide (NO) - 100; Neon (Ne) - 2.5; Hydrogen-Deuterium-Oxygen (HDO) - 0.85; Krypton (Kr) - 0.3; Xenon (Xe) - 0.08 |
I'd agree that Earth's atmosphere has a lot of nitrogen. But there's a lot of CO2 on Mars, and the whackos point to that as proof that 350ppm here of same will kill us all. My point is, whatever facts your give these folks are useless against their eco-faith/religion.
