"The Villages" a retirement community is always being advertised on cable tv here in South Jersey.
Prayer up for all.

I knew you couldn't get through a thread without getting your dig in. Way to work the anti-Islamophobia agenda into a tornado thread. Very creative.

not the time or place for your so called humor....
..especially for those of us who live in Florida and have no idea yet, what damage has been done to our friends and families!!!!!!!!!!!

It is very nice - I have an aunt and uncle who retired there from Maryland back in September. They were out of town when the storms hit, but they've talked to neighbors and their house is okay.

The problem goes beyond alerting people. There are no basements and very few underground shelters in Florida.

"Staggering info coming in" -- 300-500 homes in the Villages communites ALONE (apparently there is a cluster of them all with different names) with "moderate to significant damage"... a "number of missing"... crews going door to door.

What? They just called for the opening of the public coffers on Fox News a few minutes ago.

Hi...
Very windy here last night but we're well south. Have friends in the east Orlando, Tavares area so will check with them... their folks live here.
Thanks for the concern and pings

You still can drastically increase your chances of survival in almost all tornadoes by going to an interior room or a bathroom...

I'm in Lakeland right now - it's okay. Just got some heavy rain, but even that's let up for now. Looks like another small cell may hit in a few minutes, according to the radar.
Cape Coral appears to be south of the worst of the weather for now, but this line of storms will probably sag south as the day goes on.

There was some controversy when FEMA actually denied a request for Federal Aid by the governor (which I've never heard of happening)for the December tornado that hit Embry-Riddle and Daytona beach.
