Tehran, 2 Feb. 2007 - Iran is building a new, underground nuclear power plant in Natanz, diplomatic sources with the UN atomic watchdog, the International Atomic Energy agency (IAEA), told Adnkronos International (AKI) on Friday.
Tehran has also refused to install the CCTV cameras of the IAEA necessary to monitor Iran's nuclear programme, which the international community fears is aimed at building nuclear weapons. The new centrifuges to enrich uranium on an industrial scale will be allegedly placed in the new plant.
Iran has announced it means to inaugurate 3,000 new centrifuges and the official confirmation is expected on 11 February, the last day of celebrations marking the 28th anniversary of the 1979 Iranian revolution.
