Today the VP of the bank where we bank talked about candidates. He is a social conservative evangelical who is supporting Rudy along with a lot of his fellow church members. Why you may ask? Because their #1 issue is the WOT and support for our military. He said it is too important to defeat Hillary not to support Rudy because he cannot see another Republican that has the spine to take her on and win.

The pollster in this case is Dana Blanton. I saw her on John Gibson tonight...vy cute, and quite believable.

I'm no "RINO", never have been, and I agree with you completely.

Hatred blinds people to the truth. I can remember post after post after post here, on how Hillary looked terrible, when actually she looks great and very fashionable. Okay, she usually dress badly and looks awful, but there have been a few tines, that yellow outfit she wore with the lovely pearl torsaud, from Tiffany, after here husband's wagging finger "I DID NOT HAVE SEX WITH THAT WOMAN......" speech.

OTOH, I have also seen post after post and thread after thread about how marvelous Laura looks and how fantastic her clothes are, when the complete opposite was the hard truth.

Hillary has been coached within an inch of her life and it WILL continue! Will she blow it all, and will the gaffs and screams become public knowledge? I don't know; perhaps.

Can any completely unknown nobody, who has NEVER had to fight down and dirty in the gutter, in the trenches, who has no financial and NO political backing now and whose has NO chance of EVER getting it beat her, because he appears to be a true blue Conservative? NEVER !

"tell me again how I should be confident that Rudy is going to choose "strict constructionists"." After asking this question, you quote him as saying "Scalia ia a terrific judge." His willingness to say that actually tells me more about the judges he would pick than I would learn from his saying he would pick a strict constructionist. "strict constructionist" is a very abstract expression that can be interpreted in a variety of ways. Scalia has a detailed track record on the court. Perhaps he is not the best paradigm to use in picking a judge, but he is not that bad.

Dark Skies begain this discussion by attempting to convince us that Giuliani is a liberal. I have never met a liberal who thinks that Scalia is terrific. There probably is such a creature, but it must be a very rare beast. (I have lived amidst liberals of every variety for most of a long lifetime.)

Sure, and maybe your tale is even accurate. Anecdotal evidence won't trump reality. The reality? Rudy will split the GOP, alienate the base, lose the Western States and the Southern States and might even fail in the North East. After all, Hillary is Senator, not Rudy.

I have a thorough knowledge of sex...have read many books on the subject and even interviewed an authority.

Heheh.

Congrats on learning a new word. Are you now going to use so often, that it becomes useless and irrelevant?

civil unions are legally the same as marriage it is a legalistic sham. The left wing lawyers came up with it so that they can fool the ignorant.

Rudy says that the IDEAL Justice is Scalia; he also knows and thinks very highly of Roberts and Alito, who he says are the kind of nominees he would pick.

Not only that, can a completely known, like McCain, do it? I mean picture the Presidential debates, who is it that we want standing there those nights? I for certain don't want to see the gloomy McCain. I'll take Rudy, with his combination of optimism, street smarts, intellect and experience.

Putting aside whether the symbolism of capturing the word has any import for many (and I think it does, and probably should be considered as such in an objective sense), not when it comes to federal benefits, and I strongly suspect, the benefits and duties in many states.

Rudy should probably be asked this precise question, as to whether to make federal benefits nuetral as to one status vis a vis another, as all candidates should. I beleive in transparency.

Yeah, why think when you can write in ready-made phrases or simply cut-and-paste? For the latter, one doens't even have to make an effort to retrive from the memory bank.

I'll admit, though, I'm guilty myself of the same sometimes.

Here is the transcript in relevant part:

"MATTHEWS: let's talk about judgeships. I know you're pro-choice and you're for gay right and you're a little bit off the center mark of the Republican Party. Maybe you're in the center of the country. we have all this supreme court action coming up this summer. I hate to be ghoulish about it but we may have a resignation, a retirement from the chief justice. Do you think Scalia would be a good choice to move up from associate judge to a chief justice?

GIULIANI: he's somebody I ve known for many, many years. I ve worked with him in the justice department during ford administration. I had tremendous admiration for him. And he would be a terrific justice. he would be a terrific chief justice. Obviously the president has a lot of people to consider. I don't know. he probably doesn't know at this point what he'll do. You know, Scalia is a terrific judge.
