I am ashamed to have forgotten the cold war. My tagline is Reagan's birthday, which should be a national holiday, IMHO.

Oh, Kyoto has very little to do with results - it's all about control

True. I would encourage you to do some google searches on 'Maurice Strong', who is the architect of Kyoto. He is a Canadian equivalent to George Soros.

And so we now get to what this is really about. It was never about the environment. It was about jealous, underperforming socialist Old Europe trying to kill our free-market economic dynamism by one means (Kyoto) or another (tariffs).

Well, Mr. Chiraq, confrontational tariffs do not occur in a vaccum. Expect retaliation. We also happen to be a major (if not the biggest) export market for Europe, and your economy is much more dependent on exports than ours. See ya in the next global depression: Smoot Hawley, Part Deux. We'll weather it a lot better than your dysfunctional economy will. Aurevoir.

"It's anti-capitalist propaganda. If France is going to be poor and miserable because of it's socialist policies, everyone has to be poor and miserable because of Frances policies."

Bingo. It's envy parading as policy.

I want Britain to have nothing to do with this. You're on your own, Jacques.

This is just the beginning. The duty taxes and substantial energy price increases are the beginning of the great depression II

Then we should ban all imports of french wine, cheese/other food products and clothing and accessories. Also, how does Monsieur Cheese Eating Surrender Monkey plan on coaxing China and India into signing the accord? What an a$$hole.

It doesn't. It's all about hamstringing the US.

The whole Kyoto Treaty thing is a Marxist/Socialist conspiracy. I would hope that our gevernment would realize that after having won the Cold War, we need to keep vigil and not be tricked into accepting this socialist scheme.

CARBON TAX ?????????

Will France start paying a carbon tax for all the cars that Muslims burn in the streets of France? Are French Muslims deliberatly causing global warming?

This must be addressed in the KYOTO before we sign on!

Don't worry, Jacques, Madame Hillary will be more than happy to enact a carbon tax of her own.

What a pantload! I just heard a news 'report' this morning that made the following statements back-to-back:

1. It's almost certain that global warming is caused by human activity.
2. No matter what we do to change our activities, the earth's temperature will continue to rise.

Apparently, we are responsible for something over which we have no influence. Either they are oblivious to their self-contradiction, or they are downright lying. I vote the latter.

I thought coercion and force were only for "cowboys". Obviously, this is a result of diplomatic failure, no?

Meanwhile, the temps around here are seven below with the wind chill of 25 below.

"Global warming" my asset.

Oh, and BTW, our kids here are still going to school today. In fact, a school bus loaded with kids just went by. They aren't being raised like wussies the way New England's kids are. "Character-building temperatures" is how our weatherwoman put it this morning.
