"Mayor Menino said the hoax cost the state and cities about $750,000. He wants Turner Broadcasting to pay for it all."

There is/was no "hoax". It was a goofy marketing gimmick that was never meant to decieve or lead people to believe anything that wasn't so. These things were all over the country but only in Boston were they knee-jerk enough to assume they were bombs.

It was a goofy marketing gimmick .....Fine but it alarmed people and cost the city and state. If they had notified the Mayor's office or someone..fine , do your stunt. Somebody needs to pay for this...why should the taxpayers? Turner can afford it and look how much air time he got. Has it occurred to you that bombs won't always look like bombs? Would you rather be safe or sorry? Personally I don't want to blow up. I don't know why the cops thought they were bombs ....but it was taken seriously. I take safety seriously....had I been late for my job or missed an appointment I wouldn't be thinking it was so funny. I would be mad.
