Mitt Romney speaks to a group of concerned South Carolina citizens on immigration.
Please welcome our latest South Carolina ping list member, kiriath_jearim.
Lets not pretend Illegals arent illegal Mr. Romney.
Lets not pretend Muslims dont desire to end the American
way of life.
Lets pretend that the US is tired of terrorist hijinx
and weve committed to wiping every known collaborator
It's a pure BS bill, as I'm certain our MA FReepers here will be delighted to inform you, but it was one of his 'centerpiece' legislative 'initiatives'.
The Act itself is laughable in its language; it prevents no criminal acts whatever, and very likely the terms of prosecution for violation of this Act cannot be met in a legitmate, MA Constitutionally-based, courtroom.
Yhis commentary, unfortunately, assumes en passant that there is such a thing. Over the past few decades, this assumption has been proven approximately as false-to-fact, in actual application, as Fat Teddy's oath of office.
Something just doesnt sit right with me about this guy. Anybody else think he would just be another northeast RINO?
What the video. He opposes deportation and wants to hand out worker cards to those already here. He sounds just like Bush but with wilder hand movements and, you know, speaking English , not pigeon Texan.
Funny, if you watch the video and hear the message and not get seduced by the package he's pushing Bush's scheme.
I've said the same thing. If employers are so reliant on these workers, put the responsibility of having them on their shoulders, instead of the tax payer subsidizing their cheap labor. What you suggest is the only way I would go for a guest worker program.
That's about the best formulation of the immigration issue I've heard from the leading 4 candidates.
"Basically he said he'd uphold the law concerning abortion. He's not in favor of homosexual marriage, however he is in favor of homosexual unions, something I disagree with him on !!!"
Are you talking about Mitt? He bcame pro-life 3 years ago and all his actions as governor have come down on the side of life. And he DOESN'T favor either gay marriage or civil unions. Quote from 2002 "Call me old-fashioned, but I don't favor gay marriage nor civil union".
"Funny, if you watch the video and hear the message and not get seduced by the package he's pushing Bush's scheme."
It's actually different from Bush's plan. The McKennedy bill gives illegals social security benefits and the like. Romney made it quite clear that he'd oppose that, and individuals who refused to get off public assistance would be deported. He's also been quite vocal about building a fence in the past and has not, anywhere that I've seen, suggested that we necessarily give citizenship to the illegals. There's a difference between bio-metric, tamper-proof "guest worker passes" and citizenship. He's not as "right" on the issue as Hunter or Tancredo, but he's acceptably right in my opinion. Much better then McCain, Bush, or even Giuliani (who's a little to the right of the former).
I think you're right. That's a Lizard's Thicket menu if I've ever seen one. Guess he had to come down south for his "meat and three."

Yeh, but according to Dick Morris Hillary will be the next president. /sarcasm
