Top Democrat Sen. Robert Byrd is warning that the Bush administration is preparing to go to war with Iran.
In a e-mail message sent to activist Democrats, the West Virginia lawmaker who is now President pro tempore of the Senate and third in line for the presidency after Dick Cheney and Nancy Pelosi rails against President Bushs plans for a troop surge in Iraq and declares:
"Not only does Mr. Bush intend to plunge us deeper into what is now clearly a civil war in Iraq, but he is now increasing his belligerence towards Iran and Syria. In his State of the Union address, Mr. Bush called out Iran no less than seven times.
"I fear that what we are seeing now is an administration intent on laying the groundwork for a wider war in the Middle East.

That is why it is so important for us to reject Mr. Bushs plan for more troops in Iraq. Once escalation in Iraq begins, there is no telling what ruinous consequences await this nation. The e-mail sent out under the banner of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee contains a link to a petition addressed to Bush, urging him to abandon his "escalation strategy.

And your point is, Byrd Brain?
Doesn't he have a cross burning he should be at?
Grand Ben-Wa of Klan Pink?
Does Grand-Wizard-of-soiled-sheets Byrd fear his fellow anti-semite in Tehran is in danger?
And Senator Byrd, apparently, has no problem with our soldiers being killed by Iranian RPG's and IED's....
Well, Byrd wants war with them blue-bellied Yankees.
NEO-CONS RULE! Get ready Byrd, we're going to drag President Bush into another conflict. This time we're going to tell President Bush to NUKE 'em, make 'em the world's biggest glass factory! /s
There were term limits under the Articles of Confederation.
Ah, those were the days.
As soon as we went into the Middle East, the DBM started saying that Bush was going into Iran and North Korea. Planning for every possible scenario is NOT the same as going in soon. The DBM does whatever it can to make W the bad guy. I guess it worked for '06.
So KKK Bobby is worried about USA belligerence towards Iran and Syria???
What about their belligerence towards the USA? And I suppose I could lump Israel in there also.
Old senile KKK Bobby should have packed it in decades ago.
But I guess this is typical of the Libs. Get used to it - we have 2 more years of it coming. Bash Bush and bash America.
I wish that were true but I don't see much evidence of it. Sooner or later we're going to have to force a regime change in Iran or start bombing their nuke facilities. But no one in the administration seems to be laying the political groundwork for a confrontation with Iran.
What the dems are truly scared of is another galvanizing military effort that pulls more voters over to the republican party in the lead up to the next presidential election.
They are not stupid. They realize that Iran is quite different from Iraq in that people are concerned already about Iran and since Iran is not even really pretending anymore that they are seeking nuclear weapons it is a whole different ballgame.
Democrats are stuck with trying to convince people that Iran having nuclear weapons is "ok" or to try and quagmire it away and delay by constant referrals to the UN in the hopes that they can belay any military effort that would bring more people to the presidents side.
So do I. A war with the gov't there is in the world's best interest.
Right after we went into Iraq the dems went crazy about protecting Iran and Syria. Note that Byrd included Syria even though no on eis mentioning Syria right now.
These are two of the worst regimes on Earth, and the dems are hell bent on protecting them. That is why the dems are so vulnerable IF the republicans had the willingness to expose them.
