I wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for the warm thoughts and kind words. We found hope, friendship, and strength in all your prayers.

We laid Garrett to rest this morning. We had a beautiful ceremony this morning at our church. The weather was sensational, making it perfect while at the cemetery. Garrett's parents Mike and Lauren were surrounded by friends, family, and well-wishers. We all had our fair share of sad tears, warm memories, and joyful stories with which to console one another with. Mike and Lauren are doing as well as one could expect, and look forward to putting this trauma behind them and focusing on their son Collin, who will turn 5 months on the 11th. Their love and dedication to one another has shone through and through this week. God has truly wrapped His arms around them both and comforted their souls with His grace.

Some of your posts concerned how Piper was adjusting to the loss, so I thought you would like a quick update. All in all, our little AZFlyBaby is doing pretty good. It's been rough on her this past week, staying first with my wife's parents and then my own (Thanks a million HiJinx, we just don't know what we would do without you and HiNana...hee hee hee...think she would like that nickname?). She's being a bit of a Sassy-pants, but it's probably just because she can feel the tension and sorrow at home. We're doing much better now, and will reestablish our normal routine tomorrow. I'm confident Piper will settle back to her normal sweet self soon.

Piper isn't quite to the point of asking why things happen, which has been our saving grace. We told her that God had called Garrett home, and he was in Heaven with the angels. I haven't had to come up with any reason why yet, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. As for now, Piper seems to have accepted that Garrett is in Heaven.

As for myself and my wife, we're drained. There isn't much emotion left right now. We're well, though. After some rest and the chance to get our affairs back in order, we are going to be just fine. Your prayers have helped significantly, though. We wouldn't be well if it weren't for the strength of the Lord and the support of our friends. We focused a great deal on supporting Mike and Lauren, and now look forward to focusing on our emotions while climbing away from the grief and despair that was so overwhelming merely days ago.

Mike and Lauren asked us to extend their thanks for all the support. We provided them with some of the links and information regarding the various support groups that some of you supplied. In time, those resources may prove vital during their recovery.

So, it's time to go lie down and catch our breath. Thank You all again, and God bless you. We're grateful for everything. Oh, and a special thanks to HiJinx, who did absolutely everything he could for us from the first moment. You're a phenomenal man, Sir. I know from experience that it has a great deal to do with the wonderful woman that stands by your (our) side. Give her a big hug and kiss for me.
