Blurring the traditional lines of partisanship, conservative Mike Huckabee launched his bid for the Republican presidential nomination with a swipe at President Bush and a friendly nod to fellow Arkansan Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.
The former Arkansas governor assigned Bush some of the blame for failing to deliver on a 2000 campaign promise to be a uniter, not a divider and ease polarization in Washington.

Agreed; the smartest thing a GOP contender could do these days is distance themselves from Bush (even brother Jeb has done it and he's not running).

I have always feared that the Dems would nominate a populist but left-leaning economic candidate and that would destroy the GOP. I guess I never thought that the GOP would have a contender who would play class warfare and be socially conservative.
We have had far too many Republicans who don’t understand capitalism. Huckster is one too many. We need to bury this guy, fast.

Huckabee is like a liberal's caricature of the "Christian" politician, spouting his good Bible learnin' and the yokels eat it up and vote for him because he goes to church. Forget that his stances are completely opposed to conservative principles.
Then again, maybe he's using the Jedi mind trick.
