This is a partial transcript from "Hannity & Colmes," July 20, 2005...

COLMES: Now, on abortion — now, you are pro-choice, right?

GIULIANI: Yes.

COLMES: You're a pro-choice Republican.

GIULIANI: I am.

~snip~

COLMES: Now, Roe vs. Wade -- You are pro-choice. How important is it to you as a pro-choice Republican to have a pro-choice on the court as someone...

GIULIANI: That is not the critical factor. And what's important to me is to have a very intelligent, very honest, very good lawyer on the court. And he fits that category, in the same way Justice Ginsburg fit that category.

I mean, she was — she maybe came at it from a very different political background, very qualified lawyer, very smart person. Lots of Republicans supported her. I expect, and listening to Senator Nelson, I expect that John Roberts will get support from a lot of Democrats.

=============================================================

So Rudy thinks Ruth Bader Ginsberg is a "very intelligent, very honest, very good lawyer".... "very qualified lawyer, very smart person". I don't know any conservative who heaps praises on J.Ginsberg like that. J.Ginsberg is the ultimate liberal. Obviously, Rudy is not a conservative when it comes to his idea of what makes a good strict constructionist judge-jurist-justice. Rudy would be more inclined to appoint a Lawrence Tribe, George Mitchell or Alan Dershowitz to the SCOTUS, then he would be to appoint another Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas or William Rehnquist.

LOL! You are so taking that out of context. Just because Rudy thinks Ginsburg is intelligent, honest and a good lawyer doesn't mean he agrees with her judicial ideology. Heck, I'll admit that Bill Clinton is very intelligent, he was a Rhodes scholar after all and a law professor, but that doesn't mean I agree with his politics.

Rudy's idea of a "very intelligent, very honest, very good lawyer." The image of the kind of Supreme Court Justice he would appoint:

Actual artist rendition of Supreme Court Justice

And we know what a great job he did at getting Bush to appoint his mobbed up, high school dropout, corrupt business partner Bernie Kerik to head the Department of Homeland Security. Giuliani earlier appointed Kerik to head the New York Police Department And we know how that all worked out. Kerik narrowly avoided jail, but he was convicted anyway.

He also, in a quid pro quo for the New York Liberal Party's endorsement and support, appointed Liberal Party Chairwoman Fran Reiter as Deputy Mayor. He also appointed Russell Harding, the son of Giuliani's close friend Raymond Harding who also chaired the Liberal Party and was one of Giuliani's closest campaign advisers, to be the City Housing Director. Russell Harding had to leave office upon being arrested by federal law enforcement and charged with conspiracy, fraud, mail fraud, wire fraud, receiving child pornography, and possesing child pornography. He was using his official credit card to pay for personal items including a car, 'Sopranos' DVDs, and a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon. He later pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 5 years in prison and forced to repay $367,000 he embezzled from the New York City.

Yes, Rudy Giuliani has a sterling record when it comes to appointing people to positions in his administration.

Rudy is talking about appointing judges

GIULIANI: Sure. That's be exactly the kind of person you'd think that you'd want to appoint, somebody who shares kind of your general outlook, but hasn't indicated and hasn't really predetermined most of the cases that are going to be determined by the court.

Presidents, going back to the beginning of the republic, generally appoint people on the Supreme Court that they believe agree with them. It's sort of an extraordinary thing to ask of President Bush. Nobody asked it of President Clinton.

President Clinton appointed people that basically agreed with his political philosophy, which is left of center. Of course, President Bush is going to appoint people that basically agree with his political philosophy. And then what we found out about the Supreme Court is, we don't really know until after they're on the court where they're going to end up.

Thanks for the transcript. Looks like someone is doing some spinning.
