You Rudy-bashers are so messed up from ignoring all of Rudy's incredibly conservative positions and policies as mayor, that you're now even bashing Ruth Bader Ginsberg for sleeping, something that has nothing to do with intelligence or ideology. This is priceless. Please, don't stop.
Could ju reepeet that? I missed it the third time....
We know what a great job Rudy did at getting Bush to appoint his mobbed up, high school dropout, corrupt business partner Bernie Kerik to head the Department of Homeland Security. Giuliani earlier appointed Kerik to head the New York Police Department And we know how that all worked out. Kerik narrowly avoided jail, but he was convicted anyway. Please explain how this kind of behavior as Mayor of NYC a.)instills confidence in Rudy's ability to govern and b.)demonstrates Rudy's "incredibly conservative positions and policies as mayor". I'll wait.In a quid pro quo for the New York Liberal Party's endorsement and support, Giuliani appointed Liberal Party Chairwoman Fran Reiter as Deputy Mayor.
He also appointed Russell Harding, the son of Giuliani's close friend Raymond Harding who also chaired the Liberal Party and was one of Giuliani's closest campaign advisers, to be the City Housing Director. Russell Harding had to leave office upon being arrested by federal law enforcement and charged with conspiracy, fraud, mail fraud, wire fraud, receiving child pornography, and possesing child pornography. He was using his official credit card to pay for personal items including a car, 'Sopranos' DVDs, and a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon. He later pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 5 years in prison and forced to repay $367,000 he embezzled from the New York City.
Oh, and by the way, I found that stuff in 10 minutes of using Google, looking for the right keywords. You can take it to the bank that the Democrats are going to trot out all kinds of stuff like that from Rudy's term as mayor because they have a multi-million dollar opposition research department. Rudy will NOT win the general election if he makes it there. His liberal views and behavior as mayor will split the Republican party, sending too many core voters away. The Democrats will use all the baggage from his term as Mayor to destroy him with possible crossover Dems and a good deal of Independents. Do the math. He can't win. We need to get behind one of the conservative or even somewhat moderate candidates and get him elected. Supporting a liberal like Giuliani - I know, you still want to hold onto all the myths that surround him, but you need to accept reality - will give the Democrats the White House in 2006. And, worse, it will destroy the Republican Party in the process.
