My aunt and uncle sent this out to our family at 6:30 AM today. Carrie is my young cousin, a very gifted artist, and the second eldest among her siblings. She and her family are in Michigan.
Prayer reqeust from my aunt and uncle (Carrie is their granddaughter).
This morning on her way to work Carrie's car slid on the highway and into a tree. She has very bad injuries, especially to her head. Her brain is swelling and she is now in surgery. They plan to open her skull to allow for the swelling, and she is not responding. They don't give her parents a lot of hope. We are telling everyone so you can join us in praying for our dear Caroline. They called her parents about 7:45 this morning and they're at the hospital now.

God bless you Gretchen as I'm sure you are mentally fatigued from all this. I continue to pray for Carrie's medical caregivers for wisdom to take care of her. Carrie's family is also in my prayers. God bless you all.
Thank you -- it IS starting to take its toll and there is a long road ahead, and I know her immediate family is feeling the fatigue and the lack of sleep much more than those of us who are a degree further removed, so I really appreciate the prayers.

God Bless Carrie, and the rest of her family. They are surely exhausted with fear and fatigue by now. God grant them the peace they need. Also grant the physicians, nurses, and therapists wisdom to deal with Carrie. In Christ's name, Amen.
More prayers for Carrie and her family.
Thoughts and prayers are with you...
There will be more hills and valleys but the prayer of the faithful will carry them through.
Prayers ongoing for this dear young woman and her family.
Hugs to you GEM and thank you for the updates.
Also, although this sounds like a bad night, consider this - they wouldn't even try to move her unless she was doing o.k. And all the movement and stress associated with the CT scan would upset everyone (including Carrie) and can cause things to come just a little unglued.
So don't worry too much . . . and we will redouble our prayers. It COULD be a long road, but then again she could make an uneventful (or a remarkable) recovery. So I wouldn't worry too much about that right now. Just one step at a time . . . and the best for Carrie that we can pray for.
Confitebor tibi. Psalm cxxxviii.
I WILL give thanks unto thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; even before the gods will I sing praise unto thee.
I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy Name, because of thy loving-kindness and truth; for thou hast magnified thy Name, and thy word, above all things.
When I called upon thee, thou heardest me; and enduedst my soul with much strength.
Though I walk in the midst of trouble, yet shalt thou refresh me; thou shalt stretch forth thy hand upon the furiousness of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.
The Lord shall make good his loving-kindness toward me; yea, thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever; despise not then the works of thine own hands.
The Collect
O GOD, the strength of the weak and the comfort of sufferers; Mercifully accept our prayers, and grant to thy servant the help of thy power, that her sickness may be turned into health, and our sorrow into joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Antiphon. The Lord saveth thy life from destruction;
And crowneth thee with mercy and loving-kindness.
Benedic, anima mea. Psalm ciii.
PRAISE the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me, praise his holy Name.
Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
Who forgiveth all thy sin, and healeth all thine infirmities;
Who saveth thy life from destruction, and crowneth thee with mercy and loving-kindness.
O praise the Lord, ye angels of his, ye that excel in strength; ye that fulfil his commandment, and hearken unto the voice of his word.
O praise the Lord, all ye his hosts; ye servants of his that do his pleasure.
O speak good of the Lord, all ye works of his, in all places of his dominion: praise thou the Lord, O my soul.
The Collect.
ACCEPT, we beseech thee, merciful Lord, the devout praise of thy humble servant; and grant her an abiding sense of thy loving-kindness; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
O SAVIOUR of the world, who by thy Cross and precious Blood hast redeemed us; Save us, and help us, we humbly beseech thee, O Lord.
Almighty and merciful God, please shed your love on this family and heal them in their time of need.
Amen

Prayers for Carrie from Arkansas. - OB1
Continued prayers for Carrie, and her family that God brings her back to good health quickly.
From me: I am sensing in my prayers the weariness, the exhaustion, of the parents, who still have several young children at home; that the parents and other adult caregivers need gusts of grace and sustaining grace and rest for this present time.
I can't imagine how tired they all must be ...
Prayers for strength, calmness and reassurance.
We're praying for Carrie and all the family.
Gretchen, I am praying for Carrie, and your family. I have gotten a strep throat so if you do not see my posts please know I am still in constant prayer for Carrie. ~~Pandora~~
Thank you very much for the update. I just said more prayers. Please keep us posted.
God bless your immune system and the antibio to knock out that strep.
I have an immune system that needs strengthening and I have started declaring over myself daily: "No infection lives in my body." I declare it over you now.
Gosh, Gretchen. Words fail me, but as promised I'm checking daily for your updates and praying for Carrie all the time. I can't imagine how exhausted and anxious everybody must be. Please let me know if I can do anything for you. {{{Hugs}}}
