From Aladdin to Lost Ark, Muslims get angry at 'bad guy' film images
Crude and exaggerated stereotypes are fuelling Islamophobia, says study

Popular films ranging from Hollywood blockbusters to children's cartoons are depicting "crude and exaggerated" stereotypes of Muslims and perpetuating Islamophobia, according to a study published today. A report by the Islamic Human Rights Commission argues that films as diverse as The Siege, a portrayal of a terrorist attack on New York starring Denzel Washington and Bruce Willis, the Disney film Aladdin and the British comedy East is East have helped demonise Muslims as violent, dangerous and threatening, and reinforce prejudices.
While The Siege is attacked for inter-cutting Islamic ritual and terrorist violence, potentially linking the two in the minds of audiences, Aladdin faces criticism for depicting Arabs as "ruthless caricatures" with "exaggerated and ridiculous accents".

"perpetuating Islamophobia"
Of course, random acts of terrorism directed against unsuspecting citizens don't promote Islamophobia. Attacking other people's religions doesn't promote Islamophobia. Calling for the death of Americans and the destruction of America doesn't promote Islamophobia.
Why don't these complainers and their little PC allies shut up and move back to the Middle East?
They don't have to blame movies............
Arabs have complained about the way they are portayed in the film as a whole. The famous scene of Indy shooting the sword wielding arab being played for laughs. Etc...
Mark
There is no motion picture that can match the total depravity and cruelty that are exhibited in the actions of Islamic terrorists.
"Of course, I understand mussies getting upset, since they keep associating themselves with the Nazis..."
Excellent point! Actually, they were kind of the stooges in those movies, not the "bad guys".
They were thinking of that scene with the guy who threatens Harrison Ford with a sword, and Ford shoots him. Classic.
I DONT CARE
The Seige and Aladdin were both made before 9/11. Don't worry... The Islamic terrorism our country has received is working!!! So, don't worry!
Too bad we can't popularize cerebrophobia.
Well, DANG, now that makes two of us. I am really HAPPY about those images, personally, but I am unhappy about the beheadings and terrorist attacks and subhuman behavior. Perhaps we can meet and discuss.
Naw, that's the book of Hillary.
Arab? I thought the feller was French...

Ummm... D'ya think the "Nicholas Berg beheading" movie and "9/11 dancing-and-shooting-guns-in-the-street" coverage might have *possibly* given a flavor to public opinion about Muslims?
Last movie made with Muslim good guys
Wouldn't that be "Funny Girl" starring Omar Sharif?
Islamo fascist terrorism just may be the true cause of islamophobia.
