More than 50 mayors gathered in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday for a national summit "to discuss the issue of illegal guns plaguing American cities." However, a gun rights group dismissed the conference as "all rhetoric" and presenting "no real solutions" to violent crime in America.
During its day-long event, the Mayors Against Illegal Guns Coalition (MAIG) "discussed the importance of gun trace data, joint lobbying against harmful federal legislation, cutting-edge political strategies and the unique initiatives being undertaken by mayors across the country on this issue," the group said in a news release.
The mayors also announced the creation of "a bi-partisan Congressional Task Force on Illegal Guns," which is to be led by Reps. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.), John Conyers, Jr. (D-Mich.), Peter King (R-N.Y.) and Mark Kirk (R-Ill.).

However, they will not address the issues that are the problem and that is out of control kids, ghetto culture, drug and alcohol abuse and poverty.
I will give you the ghetto culture, the problems of drug and alcohol abuse which seems a part of the ghetto culture. But poverty is not a part of it. The generation who lived through the depression saw poverty in amounts never seen sense. Crime was not the problem them that it is now. Being poor dose not lead to a life of crime being raised with no morals or self discipline dose.

Shot my first gun at 4, owned my first gun at 6. I'll surrender my guns when it's a cold day in Hell. Bloomberg has given in kind contributions to liberal Dems... he should be ousted from the Republican party. He's also violated civil rights, committed entrapment, possibly falsified evidence, and has violated quite a few Federal gun laws. Now, why is he still out on the street and not in jail?

Yep, especially considering the surplus ammo market is drying up. South Africa, which has some nice surplus .308, just signed on to some UN resolution declaring the US a terrorist state, or something to that effect, because of the war. The signatories agreed not to ship arms or ammo to us anymore. Ammo is going to skyrocket this year, worse than anything we've seen so far.

Poverty is a self-perpetuating disease in our world today. It has numerous side effects and acts as a destabilizing force.

Kids who are taught how to legally use firearms are much less likely to use them illegaly. Such as carrying them in gang related violence, DF.
Do I need to use smaller words?

why is he still out on the street and not in jail? Because he's part of the government - one of them rather than one of us. Different rules apply for government bureaucrats than to us serfs.

The mean and stupid don't keep up with gun laws. In fact restrictive gun laws would make them bolder knowing Joe Lawabider is without protection. Enforce the laws that are on the books.
I would say our problems are not guns, but judges and advocates that see that criminals remain on the streets. These people should be held criminally responsible for the crimes of the criminals thye set free.

You stated in a previous post specifically thatYes, guns should not be allowed in the hands of kids (IMO)
You didn't make any qualifications, so I believe that he was simply responding to an absolute statement by you, and now you're trying to say he was out of context. Personally I think that kids should be allowed access to and be traind with firearms at an early age, but not concealed carry, which would be pretty absurd.Absolutely right f_o_g. I in no way endorsed concealed carry for my 5yr old. It was just a response to the broad brush ststement by misterrob. In our homeschool marksmanship is a required course every year until high school graduation.

They are barking up the wrong tree. Yes, guns should not be allowed in the hands of kids (IMO) just like we tell them that they cannot drink, drive a car, enlist or vote until they reach a certain age. However, they will not address the issues that are the problem and that is out of control kids, ghetto culture, drug and alcohol abuse and poverty. Solve those and people will have less of a need to go bust a cap in someone's ass.....
I am talking about their efforts to make gun control the solution to a problem that really isn't about the gun.
In my opinion, there is no reason to allow kids to carry (which is different than supervised use of a firearm under managed situation) and especially so since the overwhelming majority have no understanding of what they are doing and the way that they misuse them.

Where is it that the arrogant jerks live? I'd like to check that out. Apparently they don't have to do their own shopping, banking and etc. Where ever its is, they don't have to mingle with the mean and the stupid.
What I'm getting at is, those that tell us we shouldn't have personal protection don't live in our world. They have the benefit of living in a gated community and are afforded the protection of armed guards.
