Senator Jim Webb SOTU Reponse

I hate 'SOTU'! I hate 'Reponse', too.! Who's Jim Webb? And I'll never have that recipe again!

I saw that also.

Don't know what it means, except that he has no class.

I just caught the last 1/2 hour of the SOTU. How was Kerry's behavior during it?

And what was this distortion of Andrew Jackson's philosophy to fit his own political ideology? Webb said: "President Andrew Jackson established an important principle of American-style democracy -- that we should measure the health of our society not at its apex, but at its base. Not with the numbers that come out of Wall Street, but with the living conditions that exist on Main Street."

Perhaps Webb failed to read Jackson's Farewell Speech, which contained warnings about the tendency of those elected to power to "enlarge the powers of the General Government" and of the need for the people to curb what he called unconstitutional taxing and taking of their own wealth. He warned of the dangers of "paper money" whereby the people's earnings could be inflated away (sounds like he foresaw the Federal Reserve's printing of money). Hard to believe Jackson would ever support the socialist idea of forced redistribution of wealth advocated by Webb and the Democrats.

Jackson's Farewell remarks to the nation contained these final words:

"You have no longer any cause to fear danger from abroad; your strength and power are well known throughout the civilized world, as well as the high and gallant bearing of your sons. It is from within, among yourselves--from cupidity, from corruption, from disappointed ambition and inordinate thirst for power--that factions will be formed and liberty endangered. It is against such designs, whatever disguise the actors may assume, that you have especially to guard yourselves. You have the highest of human trusts committed to your care. Providence has showered on this favored land blessings without number, and has chosen you as the guardians of freedom, to preserve it for the benefit of the human race. May He who holds in His hands the destinies of nations make you worthy of the favors He has bestowed and enable you, with pure hearts and pure hands and sleepless vigilance, to guard and defend to the end of time the great charge He has committed to your keeping."

Webb might have been well advised to read more of Jackson before using him for his own petty political purposes.

When your face is pulled that tight, it tends to make your eyes dry out too fast. In her case, the Visine drip hat getup would have been too obvious. The MSM would have had to explain the unexplainable. Better to just blink as often as necessary to avoid rapid bloodloss.

Thank you so much fellow Virginians for electing this guy to be our Virginian Representative.

Well, FWIW, we had a whole posse of Virginia freepers workin' their butts off to keep this jerk out of office.

But we faced a substantial group of FReepers who fought us at every turn praising Webb and condemning Allen because he wasn't their choice for the White House.

Webb will implode. Mark my words. His unraveling has already begun.

What idiotic clowns they are.

Not just idiotic clowns, very dangerous idiotic clowns that are going to cause a lot of innocent deaths, just as they did when they pulled us out of Viet Nam.

Let me simply say that we in the Democratic Party hope that this administration is serious about improving education and healthcare for all Americans, and addressing such domestic priorities as restoring the vitality of New Orleans.

Huh? My domestic priorities are illegal immigration control and securing the border. The federal government should butt out of education and healthcare (except to make insurance premiums and school tuition fully tax dedductible).

Couldn't tell which one was the Republican or which one was the Democrat tonight.

Let me help you out, the Republican was the guy talking about "victory" the Democrat was the guy embracing defeat.

:) Hi Jveritas! Gosh am I proud of GW! A true hero, a brave man, a great leader and a firm steady POTUS to lead us onto victory. What a contrast with Jim Webb. Keep small boys from him, or he may want to................... :)

Instead of wasting time campaigning against a loser like Webb, we should be focused on George Allen's presidential campaign.

You find me ONE POST from a regular Virginia FReeper who said anything of the sort and I will personally send you fifty dollars.

And if you can't find it, you can kiss my clymer.

And the "base" of American-style democracy for Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States (1829-1837), was what? Answer: Slaves. James Webb, Virginia Plantation Owner (VPO), and the DemocRATS want to restore slavery as the basis for America.

The President was great tonight and yes all patriots who want to win the war are very proud of him and his leadership.

Jim Webb is competing with some other senior Bush Haters in the democrat party on the number one position of the "Premier Bush Hater". I hope that Virginians regret what they have done.

I can't claim credit for that one.

I was resaying what someone else had posted just after Allen conceded. As was explained in the original post.
