Yep. Most people have ceased to listen to anything other than the voices in their own heads. Even a lot of folks around here. They cry for a "true leader" but don't actually recognize one when he is standing right in front of them.
I take great comfort in the fact that exactly the same thing happened to President Reagan in his final years as President. Of course you'd never know it now because he's perceived as a huge winner...so everyone is on his team. I am confident that someday, the same thing will happen regarding this President.

The jokes in the MSM were endless re Reagan's "hollywood" persona and his supposed lack of intelligence. Also, they put Reagan and co. through the ringer re Iran/Contra. Now Reagan is touted as being one of the best POTUS's of the century and is credited in large part for the end of the Cold War. History has a way of putting things in perspective.
IMHO, the Clinton administration's lack of policy and action re international terrorism and intelligence gathering, allowed international terrorism to mushroom to unbelievable proportions.
