Bush made a good case that he should have one last chance to try get it right in Iraq. Better late than never. The key is to make Iraq hew to its part of the bargain, and if not, have a Plan B to try something else that avoids a regional gotterdamerung, with potentially terrorist hosts here and there, as an end game, or power centers that try to get rid of the remaining moderate Arab sources of power, and several more states in the region going for the nukes. I suspect that is a robust partition program. The US troops will still have to be around to manage it. Blood, sweat and toil remains the only option, and of course the Dems that are remotely responsible and intelligent know that.
