President Bush's health plan is a step in the right direction. First of all those who pay there own insurance, like I did for many years, were actually penalized by having to pay with after tax dollars while those getting their insurance from corporations or government paid with pre tax dollars. Secondly the only way to get costs under control is thorugh individuals paying their own bills. I'm all for any plan that moves health insurance out of the government and corporation hands into the hands of the indivdual.

Go tell that to all the people who would get taxed if Bush's plan were to go through, which it won't, as it is DOA. You don't correct one bad act (you're having to pay w/after tax dollars, by taxing those who do have a good healthcare plan. That's income redistribution, no matter how you cut it. We have one thing in common though. I too, like Duncan Hunter.

Thanks for your comments on the healthcare proposal. Every bit of light on this subject is appreciated.

Once again this President is highlighting entrepreneuralship - the lady who owned the Baby Einstein company. Good!

It should be a tax credit of a smaller size, not a mere deduction of a larger size. Deductions favor lawyer type plutocrats, who are in the 35% bracket. If should also be contingent on actually having health insurance of some specified minimal level, with some minimum deductible to foster price sensitivity. Maybe this plan has that feature, but Bush didn't mention it. Of course, this plan does not fit into the Dem political plans, so it is DOA.

Now just why did not Bush come up with this while the Pubbies were in control of the Congress, asks the WSJ in today's editorial? Good question! Bush yet again has a case of the slows.
