Group Wants Webb to Rebut Bush Before Joint Session
(CNSNews.com) - A left-wing activist group is calling on Democrats to let Sen. Jim Webb (D-Va.) rebut the president's State of the Union address before the full joint session of Congress to symbolize the Democrats' "reclamation of power." VelvetRevolution said the Democratic response to President Bush's address is usually "an embarrassing, limp, pro forma predictable 'hey, don't forget about us!' rejoinder which the TV networks begrudgingly carry which most viewers ignore." Now, the Democratic response "can truly carry the message - from a level playing field - of how the Democrats envision their plans bettering the state of our union," the group said in a press release. Webb "should deliver his address to that same jam-packed and receptive chamber as the president is granted, demonstrating that Democrats are running Congress as a co-equal branch of government, and laying out their vision for the country," it added. "In doing so, the Democrats will finally show what they stand for - and that they will no longer be cowed - instead of merely and meekly serving as bit players and extras in a grand show which George W. Bush no longer leads," the group said.
I hope too .. but we also need to face the facts ... they do have the media to cover for them
That's why our side needs to get off the harping on Bush crap
He's not running for election .. and if the Dem continue to be in charge .. they will push through the fairness docterine .. and all those talking heads who have been harping about how bad our side is ... will be out of a job
These Dems aren't playing games .. they are playing for keeps
Words of wisdom, Mo. I agree with your every word.
And the public doesn't know this
the legislation, bills, amendments SHOULD start to be posted online before they are voted on...I think.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong .. but I have a hard time finding them
I can find the summary .. but I have a hard time finding the whole thing
Well .. I need to head out .. I got up very early this morning and I am wiped now
Sweet Dreams y'all
He could read some of Richard Burton's notes from his Nile expeditions.
Also...watch these candidates for POTUS...especially the Senators...they will be campaigning against BUSH..even though he isn't running.
But, if they take on BUSH...the MSM will be more on their side..and the will put off the inevitable paybacks from the other Dem candidates..once they start taking on each other.
BTW....Tomorrow on C-span 3...at 9:30 ET...will be a hearing with Levin about Petraeus' nomination or appointment.
Then, at 2:30...a hearing about Intelligence Reform with UGH..Rockefeller...
Thomas Jefferson started the tradition of sending the State of the Union address over as a written text rather than delivering it in person, because he didn't like to give speeches. That continued until Woodrow Wilson revived the idea of addressing Congress in person. Having it as a big TV event is obviously an innovation of recent decades, but I don't recall which President first gave it as a live televised event.
Good night, Mo1...busy day tomorrow...and then the speech tomorrow night...sleep good!
Thankfully, I have an appointment with my dentist at that very hour. :0)
EXACTLY!!
That way they can dodge the tough questions/debates
I can find the summary .. but I have a hard time finding the whole thing
I think that's what the Democrats intend. They don't want you, me, or anyone else to know what they're up to.
So much for this "open government" crap Pelosi and Reid were hailing and promising the day after the election.
Wow -- apparently, she's not a good listener.
They've never been up front. CULTURE of CORRUPTION.
Lord Acton: "Power corrupts, but absolute power corrupts absolutely."
They need the WH for absolute power.
LOL...thankfully???
I gotta tell you....I would have to be tied to my chair without a mute button, and Hillary talking non-stop for an hour...before I would choose a dentist appointment.
Did you hear Laura interview Arlen Specter???
That was painful.
I really haven't been listening to Rush all that much since I had left for Denmark. For one, the computers there didn't have speakers, and two, his show came on when we were invited out for supper.
Far as I know, Rush has not been saying anything bad about Bush, or trying to plant the seed of anti-war into his listening audience.
Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the center cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand....
Laura seems to have an "agenda" in her way....she is very head strong..and, boy, when she thinks she is right about something....she will go on and on and on.
I listen to her in bits and pieces...I usually get mad at least once a day and turn her off...LOL
