I Thought This Was Resolved (American Samoa still AWOL on minimum wage bill)

I Thought This Was Resolved ...? [Kathryn Jean Lopez]

A Senate source complains (expletives of disbelief omitted):

the Democrats have offered a substitute amendment (Reid Amendment # 100) to the minimum wage bill. The substitute amendment is basically the Finance Committee bill. But guess what’s not in there: American Samoa. They include the Marianas Islands, but American Samoa, even after Tunagate, is still not in there.

The pubbies have some work to do - adding their own admendments to this bill. Tax breaks for small business and the inclusion of Samoa.

Now it begins...the dems are up to their old tricks and deceptions...and the American people believe their lies...and the repubs do nothing. Please God send us a man/woman with integrity, loyalty and a spine.

Another Culture of Corruption ping!

Dems to Stay Up Late Tonight To Defend Culture of Corruption
By Erick

House Democrats, in a brazen attempt to defend the Culture of Corruption, are set to alter House Ethics Rules in a way openly supportive of Democrats who might be found guilty by courts of law of corruption or bribery related to the passage of legislation.

Under present rules, if a Member of Congress is found guilty of a crime related to the passage of legislation, the member would have his pension cut off dated from the date of the legislation's passage -- even if it took a few years to find him guilty.

The Democrats, via H. R. 476, the Member Pension Bill, which they intend to push through tonight, will seek to change this. Under their proposal, if a bill is signed by President Bush, and then a Member of Congress is found guilt of a crime related to the passage of legislation between the President's signature and January 2, 2009, the member would receive their FULL Congressional pension.

Guess who just might be found guilty of a crime between now and January 2, 2009? Alan Mollohan of West Virginia (yeah, I'm looking at you Mr. Cole) and William Jefferson (in his freezer . . .).

So, for those of you still happy you vanquished the Culture of Corruption when you voted out the GOP, just remember that at least the GOP cut off guilty members' pensions.

I just read an article that said that Pelosi and company were claiming a new direction, but apparently took a U turn instead.

So, I guess now we're getting the attempted cover-up by the Senate Democrats. I guess that they were hoping that people would be too distracted by the STOU to notice that Samoa was still excluded from the minimum wage.

I tried to email Mother Pelosi. Her contact page would not allow me to since I am not from her district. I thought she was speaker of the house and a representative of all Americans. Apparently she wants no questions about Tunagate! Bush should veto this to prove a point. He will hold them to honesty, if nothing else.
