Website offers whistleblowers chance to go global

THE internet could become even more difficult for governments to regulate with a new website, Wikileaks, promising to provide a safe haven for whistleblowers to upload confidential documents.

Australians are among the volunteers behind the site. "Your country's support for the underdog and for a fair go is showing through," a spokeswoman said.

Comparing themselves with the leaker of the Pentagon papers that damaged the Nixon administration and eroded US public confidence in the Vietnam War, Wikileaks' creators say they will uncover unethical behaviour by developing "an uncensorable Wikipedia for untraceable mass document leaking and analysis".

Wikipedia is the online encyclopedia built around content created by tens of thousands of contributors. It says its sophisticated cryptographic technology ensures users cannot be traced.

A "wiki" system is seen as a more effective method of leaking than simply publishing an article in the press or on a traditional website, because it allows for collaboration on a global scale.

Good luck with that.

Since it is sure to become a delusional leftist hatefest it will be well supplied by scumbuckets like Larry Johnson, Ray McGovern, Joe and Valerie Wilson, etc. (or rather the younger versions of such bozos, burrowed deep in CIA, State, etc.

This has the potential for some very serious treasonable activities, especially if lib/leftist moles become confident that it really is anonymous....

Color me exceedingly skeptical . . . with NSA etc. screens at virtually what . . . every node . . . tons of in/out lines

and certainly every into country/exit country line . . .

How can they make such a claim?

Have such a large password, encryption key that it would take NSA computers years to crack it?

My first reaction: Because this is a potential threat to
the government, this will give the government reason to
control the free flow of information through the internet.
You know, the way China controls Google. Fascism!

I also think this would send way more shivers down anti-
American insurgent liberal politician spines than it would
Patriot spines.

You can say that again. But if it's used to expose unethical Democrat activity, it'll be totally cool.
