On Nov 7th 2006, George W. Bush was POTUS and the leader of the Republican party, NOT Rick Santorum, George Allen or anyone else for that matter. For six years Pres Bush, along with his loyal subordinates in the Congress --- Hastert, Frist, Boehner and the rest ---- set the policy agenda for the federal government. Bush was chiefly responsible for shifting the Republican Party away from the ideas of limited government and fiscal conservatism towards more liberal spending policies, expansion of the federal bureaucracy, enlarging the welfare state and promoting liberal immigration reform and amnesty.

Some conservatives spoke out loudly in the last election cycle. On election day some conservatives stuck with the GOP candidates available, while others decided to stay home and punish Republicans for ignoring their conservative base. You and others need to listen up. Instead of pointing fingers at conservatives for the GOP losing, how about placing the blame squarely where it belongs. That would be with Bush&Company. If you don't want to see the same results in 2008 that we saw in 2006, I suggest you refrain from mindlessly attacking conservatives. That will lead to only one result. A Democrat in the WH come Januray 2009!

Thanks for another 'history' lesson!

The cause and effects that you represented as facts were rather rhetorically in line with your way of thinking but well out of touch with reality.

The Iraq War, Republican Corruption and Media propaganda is what drew the independent/swing voters over to the Democrats.

The proof of that is, good conservatives like Allen and Santorum lost their seats, along with several other conservatives that should not have lost but did. You can rant all you like and blame who ever you like, but reality is what it is.

Some of us can see the big picture ahead and many here refuse to believe what is being said.

You may want to take a look at the Constitution Party.
