Let's hope you get more TDY in the DC area -- we'd love to see you again. Thanks for reading; and btw, nice writing on your home page and links -- over a thousand hits! Wow!:

Journalists would have to work to create differences between journalism and liberalism, and simply lack any motive to do so.

To be fair about the number of hits, they occurred over a five-year span and, truth to tell, I have done the majority of those postings myself. My intent, when I started, was somewhat grandiose - I had the conceit that I could link all the threads on FR pertaining to "bias in the media" to that thread. But of course that wasn't possible, and the practical reality is that since I have added in my germane responses to various threads, the thread most resembles a blog.
Journalists would have to work to create differences between journalism and liberalism, and simply lack any motive to do so.
I stand by that old statement, and make it stronger:
The perspective of journalism is simply cynicism about everything and everyone except journalism. And far from having a motive to create differences between journalism and liberalism, journalism's perspective defines "liberalism." That is, journalism only assigns positive labels like "liberal" to those who align themselves with the cynical perspective of journalism.

And "liberalism" is a positive label in journalism's lexicon since it derives from "liberty," and was therefore a consensus American virtue. Other positive labels journalism reserves to its acolytes include "moderation" and "centrism" and "progressivism." The positive label "objective" journalism reserves to itself - but any "liberal" can become a journalist and automatically become "objective" and (for the duration of the journalism gig) no longer be "liberal."

Why Broadcast Journalism is
Unnecessary and Illegitimate
