There was another equally sappy movie about nukes called "Testament" in 1983. Jane Alexander played the poor mommy who had to watch her family deal with the after-effects of a bomb. Okay realism, not bad acting, but pretty standard liberal fare for the anti-nuke crowd, as I recall.

I love the nukes in that movie because they look so cheesy.

The were created by shooting ink into water.
