"How much longer? I hear someone," says the nervous terrorist with a heavy Middle Eastern accent, just before U.S. agents storm a warehouse where a nuclear device is being assembled. Confusion reigns, drama builds, the device is detonated and a mushroom cloud looms over Los Angeles. Such is primetime television in the age of terrorism, or as some critics charge, has "24" gone too far?
"It's the closest television comes to roller coasters," said David Bianculli, television critic for the New York Daily News. "It works well dramatically, and as far as feeding fears, that's what '24' is all about."
Sut Jhally, co-producer and co-director of the film "Hijacking Catastrophe," says the dramatic action in the show creates a dangerous climate in which the public loses some of its perspective on what's real and what's not. Of course that may be a minority opinion given the show's enormous popularity.

Logan was David Palmer's VP, that would make him a democrat.
Not all of the bombs are in L.A. We will see on on the east coast as well.
My girlfriend prides herself on being of the "hippie" mindset (i'm working on that) and she is watching the show for the first time and even she noted without me saying a word that the sister needs to leave her brother alone and let him deal with important issues rather than bugging him about something stupid.
It reminds me of this actress I saw on Conan one night (can't remember who) and she was saying how she was hooked on 24 and wanted Jack Bauer to torture some guy to get the information and ws on seat's edge to get the information - Then was sure to noted that if this was real life she wouldn't condone torture, but on TV I want this guy to do whatevr it takes to save people....huh???
The mindset of the left is so insane that when the see a situation on television where the lives of people are in peril they want the government agents to do whatever it takes to save them, but in reality, they don't!!! Wow.
I do. I was just noting the simplicity of this show. I rarely watch the networks anymore.
President Palmer was not killed while in office. Logan was President when Palmer was assassinated.
An interesting story along these lines at: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1768304/posts
Kucinich: Congress To Take On FCC
Interesting, but then liberals are just plain stupid.
I think Chloe is just weird. But that's why we love her!
Did they complain about mushroom clouds on the first episode of "Jericho"?
"Too far" is watching a kidnapper cut off Berg's head on CNN.
"Too far" is ABC filming civilians falling from the sky on 9-11
"Too far" is watching a TV special on terrorists murdering Russian School
children.
"Too far" is airing Terrorist tapes that show a sniper killing our troops or as
Charlie Rangle would say our "Kids" .
I hate to admit I am from the same state as kooky Kucinich
One thing that was never explained from last season, WHO WERE THOSE GUYS THAT WERE CONTROLLING LOGAN? There's this "secret cabal" that pulls the strings of POTUS, but we never find out who they are. Trilateral commission? Rosicrucians? Freemasons? Halliburton? Kiwanis? Elders of Zion?
LOL! That evil Tom Clancy.
BTW, in my post to you, I wasn't calling you idiot but the reporter. Sorry if that wasn't clear. I'm still fuming at the idiot.
Yes a character just like OBAMA. There is no mention over the last seasons of him EVER holding public office. He doesn't have the background other than that He was the brother of a beloved dead ex President. He got the popular vote.
That makes him KENNEDY! LOL
Well it sets up S7 quite nicely, I think.
Isn't stereotyping, by definition, painting large groups of people as all the same? How can 24 be sterotyping when the neighbor's Arabic father was _not_ a terrorist, when one of the key people trying to stop the violence is an Arab, ex-terrorist, when the head of the CAIR-type orgainization is standing up for peace? Wouldn't it, rather, be sterotyping to show all Arabs as peaceful?
Bingo
I think the secret cabal will be explained soon--saw the ringleader being "encouraged" by Jack on a preview.
I think that might have been chi-town's point... a non-sequitur "doesn't make sense".
