Well, I'm not making a joke...just speculating because I find it hard to believe that this young boy didn't have an opportunity to escape his kidnapper in 4 years...having computer access...and having been in police custody.
Of course he had an opportunity. That has been well established. But it is quite a leap of logic to go from apparent opportunity to "Gee, he must have preferred that!" Do you know what the earliest evidence there is of him having computer access and a phone? Do you have any idea what life was like for him the first year? The second year? Do you have a degree in psychology or personal experience with long-term abduction? It is perfectly fine to say, "I don't get it." It is quite another thing to jump to ill-informed, reckless conclusions.
