I cannot believe how many people at other cites (eg alt.true.crime) are saying the most vile things about Hornbeck. It's just like Steven Staynor all over again-according to the movie about his tragic life, he was all but run out of school after his return by macho thugs taunting him over what had been done to him by his captor. :-( I fear the exact same thing will happen to Hornbeck.

I don't think you have to worry about that. Richwoods is a very tightknit community that has been praying for Shawn's recovery and has been very supportive of the Akers family. The whole area is overjoyed that he was found.

I suspect Hornbeck will do much better at this stage with homeschooling or even a private tutor. He will need a lot of counseling to help him open up and return to any semblance of a normal life.

Didn't they privately tutor Elizabeth Smart the first year after she was found?
